Many who live in this family-friendly suburb of Jackson (the state capitol) work for the government, one of the most stable employers around. Several regional corporate offices are in the area as well.
As for housing, sales slowed when the nationwide slump began, but prices are only now beginning to drop. Homes in Brandon are a bargain compared to those in most other parts of the country.
The town is also a safe one: many residents consider door-locking optional. –N.A.
